Brady Sanders is in the 5th grade at Pauls Valley Intermediate School. He is studying the alto saxophone and recently entered a contest where he received a superior rating. His proud mother, Holley, told me about his success. My first question was "when can he play the solo in church?" Brady will be playing his contest piece this coming Sunday, April 23.
So many successful people have received their first accolades in life by playing a band instrument in a contest. Ask most successful instrumentalists how they got their start, and they will tell you about a solo competition. The same for singers, many got their start in a competition hosted by NATS (National Association of the Teachers of Singing).
As a trained musician, it gives me hope to see our young musicians entering competitions and gaining valuable preparation for success in life.
BRAVO Brady!
Jack
