
Music Director / Choir Director / Organist
Permanent / Part-time
Purpose: To coordinate and plan the music program of the congregation, to rehearse and conduct the choir, and provide organ music for the worship services.
Accountability: Accountable to the pastor as head of staff and the Session.
Responsibilities:
As Director of Music:

Plan the music program and make appropriate recommendations to the person(s) planning worship services.

Coordinate, rehearse, and direct the choir.

Respond to other music needs that come through the pastor, or staff.

Coordinate training of young people and children in the music program.

Be familiar with and maintain the music library.
As Organist:

Plan, prepare, and play organ music appropriate to each service of worship.

Coordinate appropriate music for weddings, funerals, memorials, and other special services.

Rehearse for optimum performance.

Attend choir rehearsals for the purpose of accompaniment.

Accompany the congregation’s and choir’s singing of scheduled music.
Relationships: The Director of Music and Organists is accountable to the pastor as head of staff.
Evaluation: Performance reviews will be conducted annually by the pastor as head of staff. The Session, through the Personnel Committee, will annually review the adequacy of compensation. This will be a permanent position following a six-month evaluation period.
