We are Hiring

We are hiring a Music Director / Organist at First Presbyterian Church of Pauls Valley.  The Music Director will be responsible for one adult choir, worship planning with the pastor, choir rehearsal, accompaniment on Sundays.

We are also interested in an Interim Keyboardist / Accompanist to accompany congregation and choir on Sundays and to accompany choir at rehearsals.  Inquire by this page or call the church office at 405-238-6667.

Music Director / Choir Director / Organist

Permanent / Part-time

Purpose: To coordinate and plan the music program of the congregation, to rehearse and conduct the choir, and provide organ music for the worship services.

Accountability: Accountable to the pastor as head of staff and the Session. 

​

Responsibilities:  

As Director of Music:

  • Plan the music program and make appropriate recommendations to the person(s) planning worship services.  

  • Coordinate, rehearse, and direct the choir. 

  • Respond to other music needs that come through the pastor, or staff.

  • Coordinate training of young people and children in the music program. 

  • Be familiar with and maintain the music library. 

As Organist:

  • Plan, prepare, and play organ music appropriate to each service of worship. 

  • Coordinate appropriate music for weddings, funerals, memorials, and other special services. 

  • Rehearse for optimum performance. 

  • Attend choir rehearsals for the purpose of accompaniment. 

  • Accompany the congregation’s and choir’s singing of scheduled music.

Relationships: The Director of Music and Organists is accountable to the pastor as head of staff. 


Evaluation: Performance reviews will be conducted annually by the pastor as head of staff. The Session, through the Personnel Committee, will annually review the adequacy of compensation. This will be a permanent position following a six-month evaluation period.

Keyboardist / Accompanist

Temporary / Part-time

Purpose: To accompany the choir as they rehearse themselves and to accompany the choir and congregation during worship services.  This is an interim position while the congregation seeks a permanent Music Director / Organist position.

Accountability: Accountable to the pastor as head of staff and the Session. 

​

Responsibilities:  

As keyboardist / accompanist:

  • Prepare, and play music on electronic keyboard, piano, or organ during each service of worship. 

  • Attend choir rehearsals for the purpose of accompaniment. 

  • Rehearse for optimum performance. 


Evaluation: Performance reviews will be conducted annually by the pastor as head of staff. The Session, through the Personnel Committee, will annually review the adequacy of compensation.  A highly qualified candidate has the possibility of becoming permanent.
