Hand to Heart Quilting Spring Update

The requests for the new year have been overwhelming and also heartwarming.  A dozen Pocket Prayer Quilts were requested for a grieving support group in Pennsylvania for families learning to cope with the death of their premature babies. A dozen Pocket Prayer Quilts were requested by a local funeral home for individuals suffering the loss of a loved one. Two dozen Pocket Prayer Quilts were requested for Veterans housed in a special needs facility in Ardmore. All of these Pocket Prayer Quilts were delivered, and we received wonderful comments from all.

In April we took a field trip to the Pontotoc County Quilt Fair in Ada.  Angela, who began sewing with us in the fall, received first place on her quilt in the First Quilt category.  Another field trip is planned for the 20th Anniversary Quilt Show in Edmond in July.

Currently we are in the process of cutting fabric for the 100 pillowcases that we will be making for the foster children at Peppers Ranch in Guthrie.  We also will begin working on 20 CHRISTmas Prayer Stockings for each of the Peppers Ranch foster homes, apartments, main office, and therapy horse barn.  Each therapy horse has its own personalized Christmas stocking on the stall door, but the CHRISTmas Prayer Stocking will be hung on the barn activity board for the children to place their written prayers as they will do at each of the housing units.

Thanks to our members and friends in the community for donating the sewing machines and the fabric used to make all of this come true for so many in need!

Have a blessed day!
