Gratitude, Self-examination, Trust
Upon hearing of the Pauls Valley High School incident last week, the first thing I did was call around to the parents of all of our FPC youth to check up on them. I am, along with everyone in the community, grateful that none of them and none of any of the kids at PVHS were hurt, physically. I pray that any psychological trauma might also be minimal for them and the entire Pauls Valley community. We are all grateful for the heroism of Kirk Moore and the others who ended th

Thank You Worship Volunteers!
Many hands have been involved in all our Holy Week worship services. Our normal worship committee volunteers always pull together excellent worship experiences by producing the bulletin, running the sound, lighting, and Facebook livestream technologies, turning on and setting up the sanctuary, lighting candles, singing and playing instruments, greeting people and handing out bulletins, and regularly preparing and serving communion. Holy Week has been extra work all around,

Easter Means New Life
At our March youth event we talked about symbols of the Lent and Easter seasons. The Easter Egg is the sealed tomb from which new life emerges, and the baby chick is like Jesus. We talked about butterflies emerging from their chrysalis. We talked a little bit about families of bunnies bursting into bunches of babies and emerging from their warren. It is true that the resurrection is life emerging from death, and this is what we celebrate on Easter Sunday morning. Christ

Easter Egg Tree 'Grows'
Relying on a few supplies and a lot of creativity, the youth event on March 22 was a delightful time of learning the meaning and traditions of the Easter egg. Participants decorated many eggs and created an Easter Egg Tree. Cooper and Emma Portwood helped get the Easter eggs on the tree. Learning about the symbols of the Lenten season and the empty tomb was never more fun! Come see the tree and celebrate Easter with us on Sunday!

Adult Sunday School Begins New Series
Unlike a church service, Sunday School serves a totally different purpose. Through lively and respectful discussions, participants will learn more about the Bible and about each other. As a small group within the church, it is a way to build friendships, ask questions, and feel supported. Additionally, the experience can help develop a personal relationship with God and gives moral guidance in such subjects as how to treat others. make good choices and live with integrity. As

Making Good Questions about the Bible
A new evening adult Bible study group is forming starting Tuesday, April 14, at 5:30pm in the basement and then weekly. The tone of the group is exploration and inquiry. The focus of the group is to learn approaches to Bible study that empower us to ask good questions of the Bible. Some of the best questions are the hardest to answer, so we always say it's ok NOT to answer our best questions. Because of the focus on making good questions, we have adopted the name "The Lea
