Making Good Questions about the Bible

A new evening adult Bible study group is forming starting Tuesday, April 14, at 5:30pm in the basement and then weekly. The tone of the group is exploration and inquiry. The focus of the group is to learn approaches to Bible study that empower us to ask good questions of the Bible. Some of the best questions are the hardest to answer, so we always say it's ok NOT to answer our best questions. Because of the focus on making good questions, we have adopted the name "The League of Questioneers."

The format of the League is more flexible. At first, we will be approaching the Bible based on a metaphor of using "pinch-zoom" on your phone. At the first meeting, we will try to cover the story of the entire Bible in one hour. Then, like zooming in or out on a digital map, we will "pan and zoom" around the Bible based on the questions that come up in the group. In this way, we will consider both grand and precise questions generated by our study. For instance, after the first hour, the group might have more questions about the Old Testament in general, or maybe just the prophets, OR the group might have more questions about the letters from Peter. Wherever the interest takes us, that's what we'll try to cover in one hour the next week.

Pastor Chas Gowing will facilitate the discussion. The weekly gathering starts at 5:30pm Tuesday, April 14, in the basement. Come join this "League of Questioneers."
