I’m sure many of you have questions about the water abatement project in our basement. For many years our basement has had issues with flooding. Several years ago the Session created a plan to solve this problem. The plan consists of three phases.
The first phase was coating the outside basement walls and grading the grounds to carry water away from the building. This phase was completed a couple of years ago.
Phase two is installing a drainage system in the basement floor and installing three sump pumps. The demolition for this phase was completed last week. The installation of the new drainage will be the week of July 25.
Phase three will be the remodeling of the basement. This phase should begin immediately after phase two is completed. We aim to have the basement functional for the Christmas family night dinner.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who helped out on our two after church work days. I would also like to thank Holley Sanders, Kevin and Lauren Readnour, and Tina, Zac, and Amber Brumley for helping to organize and move everything out of the basement. Also a big thank you to Kevin for his work in coordinating with the construction contractors.
