Tomorrow, June 25, is a food delivery day at Samaritan’s of Pauls Valley and they need help unloading the truck. The pantry asks for special recruits for this date and other food delivery dates (second and fourth Thursdays) this summer. This week they will receive about 6500 lbs of food, which is a medium to

The Goal
The beginning, that is, verse 1 chapter 1, of the Gospel of Mark is "The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the son of God." All the gospels tell the story of the life, or at least the important part of the life of Jesus. In Mark's case, it is profound that the first verse, where Greek writers would put a title, is "the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the son of God," because that means it applies to the whole work. Verse 2 starts telling about John the Bapt

Children's Worship Taking a Break
We have had a great year in Children’s Worship! We had stories from both Old and New Testaments, as well as picture book stories that reinforced the Bible story. We also became more aware of the “seasons” of the church and the parament colors. I could not have had as much fun as I did without the help from Allison Dunham, Lauren Readnour, Debbie Rennie, and Bonnie Meisel. Thanks also to Vicki Jo Dennis, Anna Newton, and Bonnie Meisel for crafting supplies. Lastly, thanks to t

Let's Take a Summer Musical Journey!
Seasons change things just a bit, and as we get ever nearer to the start of the busy summer months, a few changes are happening in the music program too. Starting in June, the choir will take the summer months off--in some respects, but that doesn't mean the music disappears. As is customary, each Sunday will be loaded with music, but with some differences here and there. We will take our usual places in the choir loft on the first Sunday of each month for Communion Sunday. B

Scammers Again Spoofing Chas

There is nothing to panic about. This is not me. My email account has not been hacked. The scammers simply registered a new email account that is similar, but subtly different from mine. The scammers' email, in one instance, had an 'L' after my name (chasgowingL) and before

M.A.Y. Fund Scholarship (in May)
The Ministerial Alliance Youth Fund sponsors college scholarships every May. The students must apply through the high school counselor, and the applications are reviewed by a pastoral committee which also decides who will receive them. The number of scholarships and the amount of them is determined by the amount of money in the fund at the time. Here at First Presbyterian Church, we collected an offering to support the M.A.Y. fund on Sunday, April 26. If you would like to s

On one wall they have a circle of felt squares made of different liturgical colors: purple for Advent and Lent; white for the seasons of Christmas and Easter, as well as Transfiguration Sunday, Trinity Sunday, and Christ the King Sunday; red for Pentecost; green for the ordered Sundays of
